Mono Theory's signature style of music is a beautiful amalgamation of genres from all over the spectrum of music; From alternative pop to field recording and ambient drone, these sounds and parts of music come together to form a complex, multi faceted soundscape of frequency, music, and visuals..

With soft-spoken lyrics that bring forth ideas of love, loss, heartbreak, grief, tragedy and hope, the gentle words of Panacea are enough to bring the listener on the verge of tears, just after one listen.

Mono Theory's album Panacea was first started in the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic; which in ways, impacted all aspects of the album greatly; Just with the very first listen, the strong themes of isolation and loneliness haunt the splitter and distorted sounds, like echoes of lost past thoughts and feelings, so far gone they have no choice but to echo within each other as shells of their former selves.. the album starts off strong with "Drive", which is a laid-back, downtempo song, about leaving behind everything you thought you knew about yourself and your life, tuning away and starting anew.


You don't know where you are going, and you don't know where the future lays ahead of you, but you don't care, all you have on your mind is to just drive, and never look back.. the album then switches into the slow, sleep-induced sounds that bring "Good-night".. The slow and trance-like frequencies of this track or slow and very intro-spective; like a quiet whisper of soft soundscapes, reflecting deep into the night.. The song portrays the vulnerability of lying awake, in the middle of the night, lost in one's own train of thought, where every passing idea is an everlasting tumble of shame and hatred that lasts forever. This given the time that this album was created, was something many people could relate to at the time; Reacting to the fear and anxiety that filled the world at that time specifically, most people were so scared of everything around them, and were left to their own devices to deal with the events taking place in the world.

"Goodnight" is a good representation of that exact fear which corrupted everyone during this time; That fear in itself was fear of the unknown, fear of future and fate itself.. This fear takes you and consumes you until you have nothing but to echo back to it; it's all you are and it all you become.. As the gentle sounds of "Goodnight" fade away, we get the track, "Into the Ocean '' which starts with an intro of a Japanese Koto, recorded and played backwards.. Eventually, the song pumps into a trip-hop style beat, which becomes the strength and backbone of the song itself.. The lyrics are headstrong, with themes of remaining faithful in dark and hopeless times, keeping the fire inside oneself to continue on, despite how hard it may be. As the song climaxes, all of the instruments within the song twirl around one another, like a spectrum of color and sounds; Within this ending storm of noises, the Koto from the beginning of the song comes back, but it plays forwards, as it gradually gets distorted, it fades off into the distance.. After the noises fade off, there lays an acapella loop that goes on for the rest of the song, until silence sweeps in to end the song.. Within this beautiful silence, there starts a delicate frequency, which marks the beginning of "Daydream". This track acts as a neoclassical interlude that introduces the next song, "Corners of The Mind".


"Corners of the Mind" is a track that starts with the gentle sound of rain as a chime plays softly, along with a piano, playing backwards, which introduces the melody of the song.. Then, the vocals come in to sweep the listener into a lullaby-like trance, enticing them to stay and to enjoy the stillness.. Then, just as the song starts, the song reaches a gentle climax, which fades out into the same still silence of the rain that began the track. After this track ends, there lays the next track, "glimmering light", which turns as a dark point of the album, almost like a narrative conflict which peaks here, but still reflects itself within the rest of the album.. the lyrics themselves show someone lost within their own darkness, unable to speak or to communicate with the outside world, and so locked within themselves that they make a turn for the worst and scream out, for anybody to save them. It is a deep hole so thick that they could easily drown in it, but they call out for anyone to save them out of this darkness. Like reaching for someone's hand when you're hanging by a thread, or desperately grasping for something to cling onto when you know you're drowning.. This bellowing out, creates the entirety of the song, carrying itself until the track takes its final blow, and the chimes that appeared from the beginning of the albums ring once more. As the track ends, there is just silence, which begins the next track.. The track, "Song for a stranger" begins with a hush whisper, also played backwards, which turns into a harmony that stays throughout the entire track.. The song carries themes of invisible love, along with the feel of being almost like a silent watcher, being so deeply enamored by a person, but knowing that said person would never see you as anything else but a face, or a memory.. As the song progresses, the melody fades in and out, as the vocals continue. As the song reaches its peak, the song fades out as soon as it begins, leaving behind a complex arrangement of textures, laying the groundwork for the next track, "to be loved". This song starts and ends within a casing of distorted sound-scaping, until the first marks of the melody begin to sweep in. The vocals sound hushed and tired, speaking upon themes of isolation and loneliness.. Then, as the song picks up, the lyrics then make a turn, speaking upon what it would be like, just to be cared for by someone, almost reminiscent of a daydream.. The lyrics continue on until the song fades out, and we are yet again surrounded by the beautiful soundscape that started the song, until the final track plays out. The final track, "Caroline" starts with the sound of an old, desolate space, with a winter breeze. As the sounds bury themselves, an acapella loop begins to show itself, as the song begins. The vocals sound sad and very intro-spective, unlike earlier in the album, where they were happier and more hopeful.. The lyrics present themselves as that of a person, who after living there entire life surrounded by people who love them, eventually succumbs to their own demons; they begin to forget who they are, and the fog that surrounds them gets thicker and thicker until their place in the world eventually fades away, and they are nothing but a memory. However, this song is not written from the perspective of someone who has left themselves but moreover, a person who personally knew the person before they disappeared.. The song sounds almost like a funeral service, with the organ sounding synth in the background of the song, the drowned out chorus, and the ghost-like vocals.. The song creeks and aches, almost like it is old desolate and old that it is crumbling as it plays, but somehow, the song still plays on.. Then, the song reaches its peak when the vocals speak of remembrance, keeping the loved one with them, even if they are long gone, and even if it is futile.. as the song nears its end, the organ fades out and the final words of the song ring out to the end of the final track, marking the ending of the album; "i wish i could have said goodbye with the piece of time that i had before you faded, but would it make a difference?" Once the vocals fade out, this marks the ending of this album, as it fades out to the same silence it began with.
